A bit more about me...
Having completed a Bsc degree in Psychology I decided I wanted to work with children. I went on to do a Post graduate degree in Education after which I began my teaching career, teaching Primary school aged children in inner London state schools. Over the course of my career I taught in a few different schools in and around London.
Over the course of my teaching career I specialised in teaching children with mild learning difficulties and children with English as an additional language. I ran this department in a school for eleven years. My last teaching role was in an alternative holistic independent school which led me back to my Psychology background. So as you can see I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge.
Before moving on; having seen a few children successfully through the 11 plus exams recently, I can add this experience to my repertoire and offer help, support and guidance on the 11 plus exams.
My interest in Mindfulness led me back to more study. Mindfulness is a skill which I believe is crucial to teaching children in this day and age where there is a growing numbers of people suffering from mental health issues. I am passionate both about teaching and enabling children to reach their potential alongside nurturing and helping children to recognise and develop ways to self regulate their emotions and develop a healthy growth mindset.
I continued to study and completed a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. I am a qualified counsellor. My experience of counselling extends to adults as well as young people. I am a bereavement counsellor for Cruse as well as a school based counsellor based in an independent school.
I am fully equipped with Public liability insurance and an enhanced DBS. I have safe guarding training and am a member of the |British association of counsellors and psychotherapists (BACP).
